Tired of the monotony of a 9 am to 5 pm job?
If you possess the required skills for an online market place with an enthusiasm to plunge into the freelancing world, then this will help you develop a successful freelance career.
Freelancing is awesome in several ways because it allows you to determine the nature of work you want to do, the number of hours to work, you can set and achieve your income target and control your own schedule for holidays or other duties.
With an influx of freelancers and the need to hire individuals on a freelance basis, more websites are propping up to offer these services, and act as a link between employers and employees.
New freelancers find it hectic trying to settle for genuine websites that ensure a good work relationship with clients and a pay assurance for all work done.
As a successful freelancer, I came up with several ideal freelancing websites.
1. oDesk (Recommended)
This is my favorite website for freelance as I have been freelancing on it for the past two years. oDesk provides excellent services and commission to workers.
Employers also find a friendly platform to interact, recruit and manage employees. An amazing oDesk feature for employers is that its commissions for projects are generally lower (10% from freelancers), thereby offering a sensible fee for projects.
Personally, I applaud the support team at oDesk for their quick and helpful response to issues and queries. Navigating through the oDesk platform is also quite easy, so a newbie can independently move from one place to another.
I recommend oDesk to anyone because its system is easy to use, easy to sign up and offers thousands of jobs to several skilled employees.
Odesk does not charge freelancers membership fee and its oDesk team features ensure freelancers get paid for their hourly jobs executed.
Another respectable freelancing website is Elance, which is the oldest and one of the most trusted.
For fifteen years now, Elance has been successful in offering opportunities to freelancers and has done approximately half a billion dollars transactions.
There is always a wide scope of new jobs as Elance has an average of 50,000 new job posts every month.
This website offers both free and paid membership plans. With a free membership plan, a freelancer is limited to certain features, which they can only access by upgrading to paid plans.
This is also a wonderful freelancing website. Although relatively younger compared to the above two, people per hour has gained acceptance among freelancers worldwide.
It is a good job market place for virtual assistants, graphic designers, programmers, and content writers.
Like Elance, it also offers both free and paid plans for members. The number of projects one can bid depend on their membership plans.
In addition to this, the freelancer’s commission also depends on their membership plans.
Fiverr is the largest marketplace in the world for small services.
At Fiverr, one can create a gig at very low rates ($5). Even if you do not know how to gig or code things, you would make money from Fiverr because the gigs re easy to create and one can copy what other freelancers have created.
Lastly, another highly recommended freelancing website is the Freelancer.
Launched in 2003, the freelancer is now one of the world’s largest outsourcing places. Recently, Freelancer acquired vWorker and ScriptLance, two biggest marketplaces for freelancing.
Freelancer is great, especially for newcomers as it is easy to sign up, use and start earning.
